Property description Ancient country estate in Brugnato, Cinque Terre - Liguria

This important villa, surrounded by about 5 hectares of land, is located in the enchanting Val di Vara, just a few kilometers from the Cinque Terre and the Gulf of Poets in La Spezia. Built in the 1920s by the grandfather of the current owners, who returned to Brugnato from Argentina, the villa extends over three floors with an area of approx. 700 square meters plus attic. The floors are connected by an elegant marble staircase with wrought iron railings.
The villa is in excellent condition and is fully furnished with period furniture. It has all the features of the stately residences of the time: Pebble tiles with ornate patterns, antique parquet floors in the sleeping area, original interior and exterior doors and windows, friezes and picturesque decorations on the walls and ceilings.
On the first floor is the majestic entrance hall, dominated by the grand marble staircase, as well as two large rooms and further utility rooms. A long central corridor leads to the living area on the second floor: a large living room with balcony, a dining room with fireplace, a spacious kitchen with adjoining pantry, which is connected to the large outdoor area with green pergola and barbecue area - ideal for al fresco dining. On this level there is also a double bedroom, a room used as a study and a bathroom.
The second floor houses the sleeping area with four bedrooms overlooking the garden, an area for ironing/tailoring (which can be converted into another bedroom), two bathrooms, a large terrace and a staff area with another bedroom. A staircase leads to the attic, which is used as a storage room but can be partially used due to its average height.
Access to the property is via a short private country lane from the country road.

Additional features
This property is certainly unique. It offers sweeping views of the pretty village of Brugnato and the surrounding area. There is a spring close to the villa which continues to supply the property with water, although the public aqueduct now arrives at the property. There are no historical-ecological restrictions on the property, so it can also be used as accommodation or for other activities.

Further information on specific request. We would be happy to organize a viewing appointment.

The town lies in the valley of the river Vara and is surrounded by hills covered with olive groves, vineyards and cypresses. In the immediate vicinity of Brugnato is the beautiful Cinque Terre region, which consists of five picturesque villages on the coast and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The area around Brugnato and the Cinque Terre is known for its breathtaking beauty and variety of landscapes. The mountains and hills are covered with green forests and fields and offer spectacular views of the Mediterranean. The coastline itself is lined with picturesque coves, cliffs and beaches, perfect for swimming, sunbathing and water sports.
The villages of the Cinque Terre are famous for their colorful houses, narrow streets and steep staircases. Each village has its own charm and history. They are all connected by the famous "Sentiero Azzurro" hiking trail, which winds along the coast and offers spectacular views of the sea and the surrounding hills.
There are numerous leisure activities in the region. In addition to hiking, swimming and water sports, there are also many cultural attractions such as historic towns, castles and churches to visit. There is also a wide selection of restaurants and bars serving delicious Ligurian cuisine and wines.

Brugnato is located within the Montemarcello Magra Natural Park and is considered one of the most beautiful villages in Italy.
The medieval layout of the walled village of Brugnato is perfectly preserved and has a special urban structure in the shape of a pair of pincers. Of particular importance in the village are the cathedral, one of the most beautiful in Liguria, and the bishop's palace, which houses an ivory crucifix from the workshop of Michelangelo.
Brugnato was an important crossroads of the "vertical" paths that connected the coast to the Apennines and a stop on a branch of the Via Francigena.
The villa was included in the program of the FAI Spring Days 2022 by the FAI delegation from La Spezia and could be visited on 26 March.
